A different locksmith blog posted this commentary on being passionate and it is very funny. Do pop over there to watch it and ask yourself about your passion. I am perhaps compulsive about locks and for brief moments passionate, but it hardly sustains me.

He's actually an excellent locksmith, with passion - I've read him for some time. He's an excellent example of what this business SHOULD be made up of. The commercial isn't his, it's simply an example of the use of the word.
ReplyDeleteHaving been in the business for 25 some odd years myself, I'll tell you, if you don't have a passion for it, you'll never REALLY be good at it. You'll be capable, you'll be utilitarian, you'll be good at taking people's money and doing a piss poor job of the work they paid you for, but you'll never, ever, be a GOOD locksmith.
In other words, you'll be a bad handyman, not a good locksmith.
You have this under a "humor" label. Son, you have to understand WHAT you're making fun of before you can ever be funny.
If I was hiring, your resume would be one tossed. NO job can be done well without passion, and making a mockery of those who have it is just sad.
